New Massive Monster: 7-SHRED Grinder Added to Monster Industrial Lineup
New industrial grinder combines industry-leading technology, massive shredding power and is ready to ship within four weeks
The new 7-SHRED industrial grinder from JWC Environmental is the largest, most powerful shredder in the Monster Industrial lineup and expertly suited for the toughest waste grinding applications. The versatile 7-SHRED grinder can be quickly configured in a variety of sizes with cutter and motor options tailored to meet customers’ exact waste reduction requirements.
We developed the 7-SHRED so customers with challenging industrial shredding needs would have a reliable, high throughput and cost-effective solution at the ready,” said Kevin Bates, global marketing director for JWC Environmental. “The unit was designed to have the most commonly required features available for shipment in just four weeks or less.”
The 7-SHRED is packed with power — sporting up to a 100 hp drive motor and 29:1 cycloidal reducer to turn the hardened steel dual cutting shafts. The 28,000 ft./lb. of available torque can produce forces up to 69,000 lb. of force at the cutting tips. This gives the machine the strength to grind up to 1,000 ft3/hour of waste and grind through even the toughest debris.
The 7-SHRED is designed for shredding imperfect consumer goods, materials for recycling, organics for waste-to-energy, meat and seafood processing waste, and high volume delumping applications. The 7-SHRED also handles unique waste challenges, like fluorescent lighting and medical biohazard bag disposal. It can also easily grind through unexpected items, like rocks, wood debris or metal pieces that were not supposed to be in the waste stream.
The 7-SHRED is well suited to accommodate high throughput application’s where significant volumes of materials must be processed. The grinder incorporates smart design features, like individual steel scrapers between each spacer to increase solids throughput for maximum grinding efficiency. The standard 30-, 40- and 50-inch sizes meet a wide range of output requirements. Additionally, standard feed hoppers are available to accommodate a variety of material conveyance methods to the grinder.
Unlike other industrial shredders, customers can choose from three standard cutter combinations — 3-, 7- or 17-tooth — to match the specific waste being processed as well as meet the final particle size requirements for the shredded materials. JWC personnel will work closely with individual customers to understand the specific waste being processed and recommend the best solution.
The intelligent control package for the 7-SHRED grinder brings together the latest technologies in industrial equipment. Utilizing proven Allen Bradley® PLC and touch-screen technologies, customers can get real-time data on the grinder’s performance as well as connect it to a SCADA or Ethernet network to gain remote access. The motor current monitoring auto-reversal control sequence ensures unexpected debris will not jam and damage the grinder. This advanced control package is housed in an all-weather NEMA 4X stainless steel panel for indoor or outdoor installations.
In addition to being one of the most cost-effective dual-shafted grinders in its class, the 7-SHRED is also proven to be an excellent alternative to other size-reduction technologies. Lower initial costs, reduced maintenance and lower operating noise level make the 7-SHRED a preferred alternative to hammer mills for grinding solids in many applications.
We took everything we were hearing from our customers about their debris issues, and made that the inspiration behind the smart design of the new 7-SHRED,” said Bates. “JWC is committed to making their jobs easier, so waste is the last thing they have to think about.”
