Founded in 1973 in Southern California, JWC is known for our legendary shredders and screens, including the Muffin Monster® – the world’s first dual-shafted sewage grinder. We’ve shipped over 40,000 shredders and screens to facilities around the world – a testament to the trust our customers place in us.

Company Milestone | May 1973

Disposable Waste Systems Founded

Disposable Waste Systems was founded in Santa Ana, California in 1973 in Joe Chamber’s garage. The business was built around the need to help wastewater treatment operators deal with solid materials in waste streams that were clogging and damaging pipes, pumps and valves.

First Muffin Monster® Patent Received

From its founding in 1973 in Santa Ana, California JWC Environmental had been working with waste treatment operators to solve difficult solids problems in wastewater flows.

Company Milestone | June 1986

Channel Monster® high-flow grinders introduced

The success of the Muffin Monster® grinder for wastewater left the municipal sewage treatment industry looking for more. Customers were looking for more flow capacity for use in larger installations.

JWC enters Screens Market with Monster Separation Systems®

In 2003 JWC Environmental embarked on an ambitious initiative to provide headworks screens to the municipal wastewater market.

Windjammer Capital Investors Acquires JWC Environmental

JWC Environmental was acquired from Joseph W. (Woodie) Chambers Jr. by Windjammer Capital Investors.

Monster Industrial Business Formed

JWC Environmental has created the Monster Industrial business line to assist its growing number of industrial customers. The popularity of the Muffin Monster grinder has spread from the wastewater industry to the food processing, agricultural, marine, food and beverage industries and beyond.

Wipes Ready® Technologies Introduced

Wipes Ready technologies were added to JWC’s grinders to address the problems caused by disposable wipes and rags. Pump ragging has been a problem known to wastewater treatment operators for many years.

JWC Environmental Acquires IPEC Consultants

JWC acquisition of IPEC Consultants, based in Vancouver, BC, expanded JWC’s Monster Separation Systems offering for both Municipal and Industrial wastewater as well as provided a new offering from JWC for municipal sludge thickening.
