Government agencies around the world are enacting new restrictions on the disposal of food waste. Food and other organic waste disposed of in landfills produce methane, a greenhouse gas, as it decomposes. The amount of food waste has been increasing dramatically over the last several decades and some estimates indicate that as much as 40% of food in the U.S. is thrown away. Composting or using food and other organic waste as feedstock for an anaerobic digester are two of the common alternatives to landfills.  Both methods require food waste grinders to precondition the organic waste materials to make the processes more efficient.

Wastewater treatment plants in many cities have undertaken projects to collect food waste; fats, oils and grease (FOG); and other organics for beneficial reuse. Commonly, plants receive the organics for utilization within the digester for biogas production. The resulting biogas and reclaimed heat are used to run wastewater treatment operations and potentially sell back to gas and power grids. For organic materials arriving by tanker truck, they are often run through a commercial food waste grinder like a Monster Industrial Grinder and Shredder.  These will shred unexpected materials in the food waste, protecting process pumps.

OEM Food Waste Shredders

JWC can also partner with OEM manufacturers to provide a customized commercial food waste grinder for food waste disposal equipment. The 1-SHREDand 1-HYDRO In-line products are an excellent alternative to macerators which cannot effectively handle the tougher solids. Also, a JWC food waste grinder does not require a constant flow of water to flush the cutting area like a macerator or food disposer system.

4-HYDRO Open-channel

With its dual-shafted, low-speed, high-torque grinders, the 4-HYDRO can also cut challenging solids down to size and effectively precondition sludges, slurries, and waste materials. 3-SHRED 3-SHRED-2

The 3-SHRED and 3-SHRED-2 are ideal units for small-to-medium waste processing applications. The 3-SHRED comes with a standard 5-HP motor and has a throughput capacity of up to 131 ft3/hr, while the more powerful 3-SHRED-2 comes with a standard 10-HP motor and can process up to 141 ft3/hr of waste. Both grinders can easily shred rocks, wood, clothing, and other tough debris, have integrated steel scrapers, and can come with optional food-grade nickel-plated housing, stainless steel cutting chamber components, and custom hoppers or stands.

4-SHRED-2

Cut bigger problems down to size with the 4-SHRED-2. Like all models in the SHRED series, the 4-SHRED-2 has dual-shafted, slow-speed, high-torque shredders, customizable cutters, and integrated steel scrapers. It can also come with optional food-grade nickel-plated housing, stainless steel cutting chamber components, and custom hoppers or stands. This shredder can be configured with a 15-, 25-, or 40-HP motor and can process up to 393 ft3/hr of waste.

7-SHRED-2

Choose the 7-SHRED-2 for your most powerful jobs. This unit has a throughput capacity of up to 1,504 ft3/hr and can be configured with a 30-, 60-, 75-, or 100-HP motor. The 7-SHRED-2 features customizable hardened steel cutters, a rugged cast housing construction, and a direct-gear drive to handle heavy-duty applications easily. Optional features include food-grade nickel-plated housing, stainless steel cutting chamber components, and custom hoppers or stands.

Zero Waste Monster

The Zero Waste Monster combines four essential functions, grinding, washing, compacting, and dewatering, into one efficient depackaging system, making it the perfect solution for product destruction, material recycling, and preconditioning for anaerobic digestion or composting processing. This system uses a powerful 3-SHRED or 4-SHRED-2 unit to separate wet food and fluids from the packaging and an auger system that washes and compacts the discharge. It comes with an optional rolling base to improve portability, discharge bags and custom hoppers, and customizable cutter configurations. It has a capacity of up to 205 ft3/hr.

Honey Monster

Use our Honey Monster to process septage, grease, fats, oils, and sludge effortlessly. This fully enclosed, automated system performs four key operations: grinding, solids extraction, washing, and dewatering, which effectively reduces solids volume and diminishes odors. Heavy Object Trap

Easily precondition rocks, rags, silverware, and other challenging debris in FOG applications with the Heavy Object Trap. This unit can be integrated with our Honey Monster, which uses our 3-HYDRO-IX grinder to homogenize liquid grease into an easy-to-pump slurry. The Heavy Object Trap is available in three basket capacity sizes for use in 4-inch and 6-inch pipelines, can handle flow rates up to 600 GPM, and comes with various optional features, including a flow meter or plug valve.
